VSFS 2014: Candice Swanepoel (Fairy Tale Segment)

Angel Candice Swanepoel opens the Fairy Tale Segment at the 2014 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in London while Irish musician Hozier performs his hit single "Take Me to Church" live. This segment certainly leaves a lasting impression.

The song is an international success and was nominated for "Song of the Year" at the 2015 Grammy Awards held on February 8, 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

His performance at the 2014 VSFS in December exposed him to an even wider American audience appealing for the first time to many who were not yet already familiar with his artistry. The lyrics of the song were written by Hozier himself in the attic of his parent's home at a time when he was considered a "struggling artist." This hit single from his self-titled debut album has been certified four times platinum in the United States. Great lyrical content with distinctive delivery!

"My lover's got humor.
She's the giggle at a funeral.
Knows everybody's disapproval.
I should've worshipped her sooner."

~Lyrics from "Take Me to Church" by Hozier

"If the heavens ever did speak,
She's the last true mouthpiece.
Every Sunday's getting more bleak;
a fresh poison each week."

~Lyrics from "Take Me to Church" by Hozier

"I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies.
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife.
Offer me that deathless death.
Good God! Let me give You my life."

~Lyrics from "Take Me to Church" by Hozier

"If I'm a pagan of the good times
my lover's the sunlight.
To keep the goddess on my side
she demands a sacrifice."

~Lyrics from "Take Me to Church" by Hozier
